After Elias suddenly inherits great wealth from his father he travels to a faraway land where he expects adulation and respect from everyone he meets. He soon discovers that money means nothing in this part of the world and that there are other things far more important.
A story about values, priorities and generosity, with an inspiring and surprising ending, Barbara Roman's THE LAND WHERE MONEY WAS NOTHING is a whimsical fable for children of all ages.

Author, Barbara Roman has written a sparkling children’s story with a deep moral and psychological message. Written in deceptively simple language (an art in itself), she tells the tale of a millionaire whose fortune is inherited thanks to his father’s business. Deciding to go with his fortune to a faraway island out of the shadow of his father to a place where people would respect him for his money he arrives and has a terrible shock. The people who live there do not value money at all and will not accept his offer for a white house he would like to buy. Elias discovers that the islanders have a different way of living without money, so he is faced with the problem of how to satisfy his desires without resorting to cash. A broker explains that the people have no need to buy anything because they have everything they need. They can have whatever they need, but must give something (not money) in return. Elias torments himself - what can he give? He has no skills. This dilemma keeps him awake at night. Will he integrate into the island and live happily there? The answer is affirmative as the solution comes in the most ingenious and surprising manner that will resound with the young readers the book is aimed at. Actually, many an adult could learn from the message contained therein. I loved this tale and won’t hesitate to rate it 5 stars.
Review by International Writers Inspiring Change

As Barbara Roman, I am the author of the children's books, "Alicia and the Light Bulb People in Star Factory 13," "Hubert in Heaven - a hi-tech angel gets his wings," "The Prince Who Was A Piccolo," "Horace Won't Sing (unless he doesn't have to)" and my NEW RELEASE: "The Land Where Money Was Nothing."
At once whimsical and magical, they are filled with deeper meanings that touch on spiritual and metaphysical philosophies. The characters are delightful and relatable, and there are many teachable moments about friendship, courage, values, self-esteem, bullying, and how to achieve your "star" potential through the magic of believing.
As B. Roman, I am the author of The Moon Singer Series, a YA metaphysical fantasy series (The Crystal Clipper, The War Chamber, The Wind Rose), as well as the prequel, "Before the Boy," and the historical romance, "The Immortal Rose Wyndham: The Beginning."
I have also penned the critically acclaimed suspense fiction "Whatever Became of Sin?" and "A Man's Face."
