Book 1 in The Doomsong Saga

Lazy Davor runs away to sea on a dragonship to escape his chores. Then runs away again – into greater danger. A mysterious Traveller, Master Odo, befriends him then abandons him with only a wolf cub for company. As Davor tries to find his way home he becomes caught up in the story of a once-invincible sword and cursed treasure.

The Doomsong Sword is a page-turning epic adventure based on the ancient Norse Volsung Saga, where the real tests of character aren’t always what they seem, and knowing who to trust can be equally challenging.

Winner of the Wishing Shelf Red Ribbon Award.

Reviews:

"This hugely entertaining tale will appeal to those who enjoy the likes of The Hobbit and The Chronicles of Narnia." - Bookworm

"This is a rich adventure story that is packed full of great storytelling." - Kristin Gleeson

"I bought The Doomsong Sword for my 12-year-old nephew, a keen reader. Twenty-four hours after it arrived he was already a quarter of the way through it and said he 'really, really liked it.' From him, that's five stars. Now I just have to buy another copy for myself!" - Bambi

International Writers Inspiring Change review of The Doomsong Sword

The Doomsong Sword, by JG Harlond, written in the style of a Nordic saga, is a fine tale of an unlikely dragon slayer. The main character, Davor, is work-shy and hardly the stuff of heroes, yet, it is he who slays a three-headed troll and much later a dreadful rampaging dragon. His adventures are guided by Master Odo, none other than Odin, who reveals Davor’s true noble origins. A fascinating tale about a rootless young lad and his domesticated Wolf, his only true friend, this is a real page-turner. Highly recommended: 5 stars.

- John Broughton, iWIC Reviewer and author of historical fiction and more.
