The second book in The Broken Series.
Ramsey and Alita have returned home, and they have to choose between two courses of action. Do you follow the direction of the President by exposing the rebellion? Or do they instead expose the spies from the city? Alita has no intention of obeying the President, but will Ramsey go along with her if it means never being able to return to the world of his dreams? In the alternate world, the alternate Ramsey struggles with how to find a way back to his dream world with little hope of ever returning.
Eloise, Jacen, and Professor Black are lost in the wilds with no supplies and no direction. They have important information that will help the rebellion against the city but they have to find the rebellion first. Surviving in the wild will be more dangerous than ever with new threats and creations used by the city to control the people.
The Inner Circle who rules the city along with the President have their own plans for how to deal with the growing rebellion but they are not united in their approach. Some of them are more fanatical than the others, and have more extreme methods they want to employ. Broken Systems continues the story found in Broken Dreaming and explores the breakdown of the worlds social systems.
Our review of Broken Systems
Broken Systems, Book II in the Broken Series by Neal Solomon, takes the reader deeper into a parallel world where Ramsey must face a time and place where humanity is on the clock; where a tyrant rules the "great" city; where synthetic soldiers, genetically modified spiders, snakes and terrifying wolves, moreover, a new breed of man - a monster of sorts, all of it, facing him on the road that he and the rebels attempting to take back control of their city and lives, must overcome. This story is epic in proportions, with a lot of intense action, thrills, and horrors, moreover, the continuous thread and mystery about the time portal, which permits Ramsey, and others, to move between two parallelisms, but also, oddly and bizarrely, coming to find a duplicate of himself and others. An imaginative and creative story, which leaves the reader with a cliff-hanger which we hope Book III will answer.
